"I absolutely loved it! I was shocked at 1. The level of personal attention I got and 2. Just how in-depth everything was! Expect to be blown away by just how GOOD Megan is at every single piece of this work. Highly, highly recommend."

- Carly Eckerle-Turner, CET Writes

“I have thoroughly enjoyed Thriving Visibility. I love the thoughtfulness and intention built into this program. I deeply appreciate the intimacy that is cultivated among the participants through Megan’s facilitation. Every session, email, and resource shared has been invaluable. I feel more equipped, guided, supported as I am newly journeying through entrepreneurship. I have benefited greatly from Megan’s expertise and from my cohort community. I would highly recommend this program for anyone seeking clarity in their business journey through practical and direct coaching.  It is both a gentle stretch and a firm push forward.”

- Naimah, Bhuruku, TEDx Speaker, Writer

How many times have you been asked: “Tell me about your business”?

This is usually followed by a pause, you saying something like “umm” or “ok, uh..”, then another pause, and then a bit of self deprecation while you apologetically stumble to describe the very thing you’ve given about 90% of your brainspace to since you launched it.

Or else maybe you never even put yourself into spaces where you’d be asked to talk about it. (Networking anxiety?)

It’s so easy to hide. Hiding behind glossy pics of our products or stock images. Hiding behind a million quote posts on Instagram. Hiding from networking meetings, or conferences, or zoom coffee chats.

What’s the ratio of pics of your face vs. stock images on your Instagram or Facebook feed?

We’re afraid.

We’re afraid that we’re not good at networking (whatever that means).

We’re afraid that we don’t seem polished enough, or that if we post a selfie people will think we’re full of ourselves, or that we’ll look like a complete dork trying to dance and point in an Instagram Reel.

We’re afraid that we’ll fuck this up and that people won’t take us seriously.

We don’t even want to admit that we’re afraid (good vibes only!) because if we admit that we’re afraid, then we’re actually going to have to deal with this and… oof.

"Megan not only gives you all the tools you need to make yourself more visible in a world where women are afraid to take up space, she also gives you the kind of support you didn't know you needed. She's part new best friend, part personal cheerleader, and all magic. Megan has the ability to help you be the best version of yourself!"

- Marisa Sandlin, Cannabis Coach

Are You The Face Of Your Business?

I love to tell the story of one of my clients who said that the reason she didn’t have any pictures of herself on Instagram was because her face wasn’t part of her brand.

“Why’s that?” I asked.

[crickets]

“Oh my god,” she said, “I just realized I built that into my brand to avoid being visible.”

Have you designed the branding of your business in a way that doesn’t include you?

You Are Your Best Marketing Tool

92% of marketers say that video is an important part of their marketing strategy.

75+% of people have a fear of public speaking.

When you question why this is so hard for you, you can see that there is pressure to show up in videos, but that most of us have a lot of anxiety about it.

And you might have this anxiousness because

  • you don’t have a great set of tools and technique to help you.

  • you don’t have enough experience and practise to show up confidently.

  • you don’t want to point and dance and lip synch like every other business owner on Instagram is doing. (If you can’t even say “Hi I’m ______, the owner of _______” on camera, you sure as shit aren’t going to dance to Kool and the Gang’s Celebration while rocking some choreographed pointing to words, nevermind even figuring out how to do that.)

You Don’t Feel Like You’re Enough.

What about this - if I were to ask you to speak at a TED conference about your business, would you:

a) Laugh then immediately cry?
b) Madly try to figure out what you could possibly say and then think of 417 other people who would be better?
c) Never return my calls?

And why? Because you don’t feel like you’re enough. You’re not confident enough. You’re not outgoing enough.

You’re not qualified enough.

Nah, that’s bullshit.

"I joined Megan's Thriving Visibility knowing that I would be encouraged to step further outside my comfort zone and put myself and my offerings out into the world... Not only have I done that, but I've also had the amazing experience getting to know the women in this group. The other women in this group have become a safe space for me, a community where I can share my struggles and my wins without worrying about feeling judged or shunned. This community along with Megan's teachings are priceless!"
- Jillian O'Keefe, Instagram Strategist

Your business is so important to you.

You’ve built a business that you’re proud of. You’ve got products or clients that are amazing and truly reflect your values and interests. You’re committed, driven and passionate.

But you’re stuck.

You want to be able to enthusiastically and confidently talk about your business…

You want to be able to say yes to give talks…

You want to be able to make videos…

But you keep putting it off for another day. Which becomes a month. Which becomes a year. It’s still on your “to do” list, but it’s now on page 7, underneath “redo bookkeeping procedures”.

There’s never one perfect time. There is just now.

“I don’t have an extroverted personality.”

“I don’t want to be the next Jillian Harris. Or Marie Forleo. Or Celine Dion…”

Great! Have I got some good news for you: you don’t have to be.

If we are sort of introverted, we feel like getting on video means we’re suddenly Oprah losing her shit about charcuterie boards.

(We, of course, lose our shit about charcuterie boards. But that’s private.)

But… what if confidence isn’t the same as being extroverted? (cuz spoiler alert, it’s not)

What if…

What if all you had to do was be exactly who you are?

⚡ What if you could get on Instagram Stories to talk about why you love your latest creation or offer?

⚡ What if you could record a welcome video for your website that helped clients understand immediately if it was a right fit?

⚡ What if you could say yes to talking about your business at the local Chamber of Commerce, or business group, or conference?

⚡ What if you could lead workshops easily, and feel good about what you were teaching?

You’re in the right place!

“Since I started working with Megan late last year, my business income has increased significantly! That's important to me, certainly. But perhaps more to the point, I feel so much better about my business. I feel more successful and I'm happier in my work. In terms of Thriving Visibility, I love the combination of 1:1 monthly coaching sessions and regular group coaching calls. Group coaching! It's such a valuable thing, when done with skill and the right mindset... and Megan knows how to make it work. If you need support to grow yourself and your business by centering yourself as the leader that you are -- do not sleep on this opportunity!”

- Jennifer Polk, From PhD to Life

Megan is a white woman with brown curly hair. She wears a pink power suit and stands in front of a black back drop with gold Victorian Frames hung.

Hi! I’m Megan.

I’m a speaking, visibility and confidence coach for women and non-binary folks.

I help you figure out the root causes of your speaking fears and give you a solid system of tools and training so you know how to give a strong presentation (and recover if something goes off the rails). You’ll learn how to be visible and cultivate confidence as you are, and not as you think you “should” be.

Also I wanna be part of taking down the patriarchy and we need your strong voice to help with that!

I’m so glad you’re here.

Welcome to Thriving Visibility for business owners. A program to help you be a passionate, authentic figurehead for your business. You want enthusiasm and excitement, without the bullshit. You want to be able to express yourself on the outside, the same way you feel on the inside. You want to be yourself and not some version of yourself that you can’t possibly keep up.

I’m Busy! What’s The Time Commitment?

  • 1 hour a month of private coaching with me that you schedule yourself

  • 2x2 hours a month of group coaching with the other members of the group on 2 Wednesdays per month from 11:30am-1:30pm Eastern time (but all calls are recorded)

  • 30-60 minutes/month of training through videos and workbooks

  • ~5 hours/month of practising (i.e. social media posts, videos, website videos, etc.)

That’s about ~11 hours a month, or 2.75 hours/week (though you can work more if you feel inclined!)

(NB group calls will be recorded, and the training is prerecorded, so you can grab that on your own time.)

  • For the 4th month, you and I meet 4 times for 60 minutes with 2 group calls, 1 of which is where we present our talks to each other. Group calls will always be on Wednesdays from 11:30am-1:30pm, specific dates in the application form.

Thriving Visibility is a great fit for you if:

⚡ Your business has been operational for at least a year and you’ve got a solid foundation/understanding of business practises. (Ask me if you’re not sure!)
⚡ You have a good sense of your brand and who you’re marketing - you’ve done some work on this. OR you want to shift to something more aligned and “you”.
⚡ You’re ready to go for it and put yourself out there (a little, or a lot - you get to choose the speed).
⚡ You can commit ~11 hours a month to this work (see breakdown above).
⚡ You enjoy building community in small groups (in this case, a maximum of 10).

Thriving Visibility is not the ideal program for you if:

⚡ You don’t align with the following statement: “I’m committed to equality for everyone. That includes practising intersectional feminism, dismantling my own internal racism and homophobia, standing up for what I believe is right, valuing human rights and being an ethical business owner.”
⚡ You’re still in the early stages of your business, figuring it out (if you’re not sure whether this is you, let’s book a call and chat about it!)
⚡ You don’t have the time to commit to the program.

⚡ It’s hard for you to be coached. (I used to find it really difficult to be coached, so I totally get it. Want to talk about this? Book a call with me.)

Here’s how it works:

When do we meet?

  • For our 1:1 monthly hour long meetings, you schedule them in at a time that works for you.

  • For our twice-a-month group meetings (up to 2 hours long), we meet Wednesdays (dates in the application form) from 11:30am-1:30pm ET. Don’t worry if you can’t make the call - they will be recorded. Bring your lunch!

  • Optional, but helpful, there is co-working available opposite Wednesdays to the group calls so you can catch up on the training with other members of the group! (NB I won’t be present.)

  • For the final 4th month, you and I meet 4 times (scheduled by you) to build and rehearse your talk, with 1 group call to chat presentations or business, and a final call to present our talks to each other.

  • All meetings are by Zoom.

What do we focus on each month for training?

Month 1 - Physical Presence/Breathing/Calm

Month 2 - Speaking and Presentation

Month 3 - Shadow Work and Confidence

Month 4 - “Welcome to my TED Talk” (it’s the best part!)

The training will reflect the focus of each month, and will give lots of different ideas for how you can test the waters and start creating content that is meaningful, aligned, eloquently supports your business and is impactful.

What techniques are used?

We use my signature, step by step approach to speaking, visibility and confidence to give you physical presence, a strong voice and the ability to speak confidently. This includes:

  • Standing (Physical Presence) through Alexander Technique;

  • Breathing (Controlled and Deep) to maintain calm and focus and support a strong voice;

  • Speaking (Optimum Pitch) to engage and enhance your communication;

  • Reading (Text Mapping) to allow you to deliver a perfect speech, video or presentation without sounding like a robot.

Why do we have 1:1 and group training?

You and I meet once a month for an hour to check in, talk about your specific needs, work out challenges and drum up ideas.

We meet as a group twice a month for up to 2 hours to get hive feedback, learn from each other, build relationships and share our wins.

You’re held accountable for working on this stuff. (<— THIS right here is the invaluable support that a coach and a group can give. You know how many times you’ve read self help books or downloaded e-courses and half-assed them because a) it’s too hard or painful and b) you don’t have anybody saying “hey did you do what you said you were gonna do?”)

What’s the coaching style like?

I create a supportive and energetic environment for you to try new things, to get uncomfortable while feeling safe to try new things, and to stretch yourself in incredible ways. I used trauma informed techniques and do my best to provide you with whatever supports you need to thrive, but you should also expect to grow and stretch, and that can often feel uncomfortable.

What if I need support on days when we’re not meeting?

  • Ongoing access to a group forum where you’ll be able to ask questions, find support and help others by weighing in. I’m opting to not use Facebook as it can be distracting and time sucking.

  • Ongoing voice note access through Voxer.

“Working with Megan is always delightful and often challenging—in that friend giving you the "Really? C'mon." face that says, "Do you buy what you're saying? 'Cause I don't." And with the same love and compassion of someone who's been there.

The lessons are short, applicable, and reusable. The methods and prompts are not based on fads or tied to specific platforms. Group meetings allow for community learning and discussion (my jam).

As a business owner with ADHD & anxiety, it's no easy feat to tame the dragons and cut the masking to get yourself out there. Megan provides insights from a place free of posturing and puffing up to be someone you're not so you can be visible and heard. She helps you sift through the BS you've been taught, leave the shoulds behind you, and provides tangible steps to coming into your own.”

- Brandy Wright, Chewmarks

These are going to be useful in so many ways beyond your current goals. Uncomfortable conversations, insomnia, job interviews, surprise anxiety…

Welcome to my TED Talk (Month 4)

  • This is truly the best. You and I meet privately for an hour every week at a time that works for you, and build your personal TED-esque talk or “signature” talk.

  • We’ll also have 2 group calls that month, the first to talk with each other about how it’s going, the 2nd to present to each other.

  • You’ll write your signature talk (with me helping you brainstorm and edit), work on the performance, record it and we’ll all perform our talks live with the group.

  • You’ll leave with a fully fleshed out, 8-12 minute signature talk that you can use in so many different areas: marketing copy, copy for emails, videos for your social media and your website, conference speeches, introductions at business meetings… the possibilities are endless. Here’s a great example of somebody turning a portion of their talk into a reel.

  • We’ll present our talks to each other on a Wednesday group call at the end of the 4th month!

  • You’ll have continued ongoing support through the Discord app and Voxer support.

  • NOTE: I am not affiliated with TED, but am the Speaker Advisor for the award-winning TEDx at Queen’s University.
