DYNAMIC PRESENCE

Dynamic Presence is a program that combines training and coaching to help you build your speaking presence. This is a 3 month, high touch, 1:1 package where we see each other about every 2 weeks for hourly sessions, 6 times.

You’ll get speaking and visibility training and coaching (whether you have upcoming projects or simply want to build your skills), goal and intention setting, shadow work tailored to your specific needs, accountability and action management and exercises specific to your goals. You’ll leave this experience with a high level set of speaking skills and the ability to represent yourself with strength and confidence.

“I had just said yes to doing a TEDx talk but was truly terrified! I was drawn to working with Megan because I already knew she was the real deal given her experience and rigorous training, plus her incredibly warm and funny personality meant that I knew she'd be supportive and non-dogmatic in her approach to speaker coaching.

I learned how to speak confidently without losing any of my personality. Megan allowed me to emphasise my strengths and lean into my uniqueness, while providing a solid foundation of tools and advice that helped me *feel* my best.

I would 100% recommend working with Megan to anyone who needs guidance around visibility, confidence, and speaking in any context. She's a magician!"

- Jerico Mandybur, best-selling author, TEDx Speaker

You have some big goals, and beyond that, some big dreams. But when it comes time to start working towards them… you bail.

You have a million excuses, and they all sound pretty understandable. Money is tight, you’re dealing with something difficult - no need to add this extra stuff to your plate, you’ll look at it next month.

But then suddenly it’s a month… 6 months… a year later, and you’re no closer than you were. And now you have the extra stress of letting yourself down.

Beyond frustrating

Why is it so hard for you to show up for yourself?!

You want to do a better job at work. You want to voice your opinion more often (and not just to your best friends and your Mom). You feel like something is holding you back and blocking you from moving forward. In your relationships, in your job. In your life.

You’ve heard about visibility and about how women and non-binary people tend to stay under the radar to protect ourselves from fear, judgment... disappointment.

But part of you believes it isn’t possible for you to get there. And every time it comes up, you either shove it to the back of your mind, or your brain simply goes blank.

psst.. Your brain is protecting you

Time and again you’ve been so stressed about an upcoming presentation, or family gathering, or work Zoom that you put off your prep until the last minute, arrive totally overwhelmed and unprepared and stumble your way through.

Or worse, you’re completely prepared, have given yourself loads of time to get ready, but then you blow it because as soon as your voice shakes, or you blush, or sweat or your heart races, or your throat goes dry, you spiral into panic and railroad through everything just to get it over with. And then spend the rest of the day and the next morning (and the next week?) feeling awful and reliving every painful second.

It’s frustrating. It’s demoralizing. It’s exhausting.

“I came to ubu skills to improve my larger venue public speaking skills. What I didn’t realize is how much bigger the impact would be. Not only am I more confident in public speaking, my smaller everyday presentations and communication have also been enhanced. Thank you, Megan. I am a stronger more impactful speaker in all aspects of life (big & small) thanks to your coaching.”

- Jane Lapointe, Financial Advisor & 2022 United Way Campaign Chair

There’s only one perfect time

And it’s now.

“I don’t have an extroverted personality.”

Me, neither.

Where some people can walk into a room and talk to anybody, you often feel awkward at parties, worried about saying something weird, or feeling out of place, or just wishing you could go home. Some people have the kind of confidence where they can get up in front of a room full of people and talk about anything. That is definitely not you. (But you sometimes secretly wish it could be.)

And what is extroverted anyway? Sometimes you can talk to people and it’s totally cool. And sometimes, you’re giving your husband the “let’s go now” hand signal because you are done.

But… what if confidence isn’t being extroverted? Or “getting over” being introverted?

What if…

What if all you had to do was be yourself? Exactly as you are?

⚡ What if you could tell your co-worker to stop interrupting you? Or stop a racist or sexist joke?

⚡ What if you could stay calm and focused, speak clearly and keep your heartrate at a pace that doesn’t mimic a racing squirrel?

⚡ What if you could feel relaxed at networking events and parties and have conversations like everyone else?

⚡ What if you could give a speech to 100 people? What about 1,000?

What if you could confidently speak in any situation?

Here’s a secret: you can!

Has any of this ever happened to you?

  • blushing, stammering, shaking, sweating, pins and needles in your legs, dry mouth

  • losing your train of thought and then feeling anxious and under pressure while you try to get back into it

  • staying silent because you’re afraid that other people will judge you

  • not trusting your gut from years of being gaslit and told you’re wrong (even from people who love you!)

  • turning down opportunities because you don’t think you’re good enough

  • berating yourself after a presentation and reliving every anxious detail

Welcome to the club. In this club, we’ve all been there. Including me.

Hi! I’m Megan.

I’m a speaking, visibility and confidence coach for leaders, change makers and folks who want to be more dynamic presenters.

I’m a human first, queer positive, anti-racist and intersectional feminist and I lead from those values.

I use speaking training, coaching, shadow work and other tools to help you build your capacity for visibility, speak with strength and authority and know exactly what to do if things go off the rails.

You’ll learn how to cultivate confidence as you are, and not as you think you “should” be.

I help you uncover and work through blocks that are keeping you back. Feel like your voice is too squeaky? Where does that come from - is there a teacher or an ex in your past who said something about your voice?

When we work together, I take on the cheerleader role, using encouragement and compassion. (But I’ll also give you a kick in the butt when you need it.)

You’re going to find confidence, perspective and a powerful voice. I use a structured, systematic approach to speaking that extends to multiple areas of your life outside of speeches and presentations. In fact, clients often come to me for purely professional reasons (work presentations being a big one), but leave with new abilities like managing conflict, creating boundaries, standing up for other people.

It’s the best!

Here’s how it works:

Dynamic Presence

  • We meet 6 times for 1 hour, over 3 months.

  • We create a needs assessment and goals overview, we use shadow work to see where some blocks have formed, and we figure out an encouraging and empowering plan for you to kick those fears to the curb!

  • We use my signature, step by step, systematic approach to speaking, visibility and confidence to give you physical presence, a strong voice and the ability to speak confidently by: Standing (Physical Presence) through Alexander Technique; Breathing (Controlled and Deep) to maintain calm and focus and support a strong voice; Speaking (Optimum Pitch) to engage and enhance your communication; Reading (Text Mapping) to allow you to deliver a perfect speech, video or presentation without sounding like a robot.

  • You’ll have accountability for working on this stuff. (<— THIS right here is the invaluable support that a coach can give. You know how many times you’ve read self help books or downloaded e-courses and half-assed them because a) it’s too hard or painful and b) you don’t have anybody you’re seeing regularly to check in on the work!)

  • I create a supportive and energetic environment for you to try new things, to get uncomfortable while feeling safe, and to stretch yourself in incredible ways.

  • If you have an upcoming talk, I can help you make edits so that your message is clear and engaging and your performance is strong and dynamic.

  • You will leave these three months with skills, confidence and forward momentum.

The Extras

  • Homework - occasional guided shadow questions for journaling to help you integrate this stuff into your life, and to really get deep with yourself about what holds you back. We’ll usually detail action steps at the end of each session for you to work on before we next meet.

  • Essential Public Speaking Notes Workbook - an 18-page guide that’s jam-packed with tips and tricks and helpful exercises to keep you prepared with a full set of tools.

  • Pre-recorded Controlled Breathing and Mind Focusing exercises. You will be able to access these exercises from your computer or your phone and dial them up whenever you need to get calm fast. These are going to be useful in so many ways beyond your current goals. Uncomfortable conversations, insomnia, job interviews, surprise anxiety…

  • You’ll also have access to my speech and presentation workshop The Talk Maker.

  • You’ll be able to ask me questions during the periods between our sessions using Voxer.

TESTIMONIALS

“Thank you for all you have taught me these last few sessions. There is so much to learn, but I feel like I’m on such a great path. You have so much expertise to offer, with so many practical techniques to help take my public speaking and presentation skills to the next level. You are truly an amazing coach!”
Nicole, Executive Director, Finance

I learned so much in my time with Megan. There are tools and practices that I’ve come back to over and over to help me get centred before I do any public speaking. I was also so thankful for the ways she made me feel so comfortable in the session, being so present and bringing such great energy to it.
Christine Bougie, Musician

"I had no idea how powerful the physical exercises would be on my psychological state when speaking. I’ve gained useful tools and have exercises to practice to continue my journey to becoming a confident and assertive speaker."
- Carol Ann Budd, Founder at Woodland Wealth
